Weird Post partum menstrual periods

Weird Post partum menstrual periods

  hello,
Had a baby in january.  normal pregnancy... didn't breastfeed.  I have been charting my temps because I prefer to use natural family planning.  I am concerned I am not ovulating.  I have had no temp. shift since january, but definite patches of fertile cervical fluid.  I have also had bleeding every 29-31 days.  I would like to get pg. again in a few months.  Any idea what is going on?  one more thing... my temps are very low.  And I was very regular before.  Thanks.
Dear MaryAnn:
Following pregnancy, menstrual cycles may not return for 6 months. When they resume, there may be intervals of bleeding without ovulation. These are normal variations.
Most women (4 out of 5) resume the menstrual pattern they had before pregnancy: since your cycles were irregular in the past, it is likely they will be irregular in the future.
Natural family planning can be very effective when a woman is having regular menstrual cycles. During times of change (following pregnancy; travel; life-style changes such as moving, new job, newly married, divorce, death of a loved-one), menstrual cycle irregularity makes the method less reliable.
Keywords: postpartum; anovulation
