Wondering when my menstural cycle will return

  I had an emergency C-section in December and now have a beautiful baby girl. I breastfed her for approx. 2 and 1/2 months(February). Now 6 months later(August) I am concerned that I have not had a menstural cycle. I would have figured that it would have returned by now, and no I could not be pregnant again. Is there a possibility that something could be wrong??

After 6 months since breastfeeding was stopped, almost all women have resumed menstrual cycles. It is appropriate to contact your obstetrician/gynecologist to report that you have not started a period.
If menstrual cycles were irregular before pregnancy, they are often irregular after pregnancy. Hormone levels can change during pregnancy and the signal is that menstrual periods do not return. Hence, blood tests for thyroid hormone, prolactin (stimulates breast feeding), and gonadotropins (stimulate the ovary) may be indicated.
