Since i became sexually intimate i have had irregular periods.(8-15-97)
Recently(9-98)I had skiped my period, but when i went to the clinic and got tested they said i was not pregnant. About 45 days after my period i started.(10-99) I assumed everything was fine, the next month I had my period. The whole week after my period i felt P.M.S symptoms and on 1(11-25) i began bleeding again so heavy that i had to use a super plus tampon and a pad and was going through them in 3o min. this lasted for 4 days. After that i would have heavy perids or light periods twice a month.
They have become more normal now. I had my period on time (4-26-99), and had intercourse may 10,and 12.On May 16 i saw a pinkish blood in the toilet, followed by light spotting for about 5 days. During that time i had sex twice and only blead slightly during this.My period is not due for a week could I be pregnant or could it be something wrong.
Thank You

Dear Nicole:
You do not mention whether you are using contraception. If you are not attempting to become pregnant, consistent use of an effective contracepting agent keeps the likelihood for pregnancy very, very low.
If you are attempting pregnancy, one must learn whether you are ovulating. Irregular cycles with variable bleeding patterns is most consistent with anovulation. This makes the likelihood for conceiving very low.
There are no tests that diagnose pregnancy 1week before a missed period. There is no way to know, with irregular cycles, when ovulation occurs, if it occurs, and hence make any guess about timing of intercourse and likelihood for pregnancy.
You have specific needs that should be sorted out with a healthcare provider.
Keywords: irregular cycles, intercourse
