antibiotics

by Chris__0, Feb 11, 1999 12:00AM

  Dear Doctor,
I am a 30 year old married male. For the past several months I have been
treated with anitbiotics for a urological condition that has not been
properly diagnosed yet. I was tested for just about everything (STD's,
cancer, any type of virus or bacteria, etc.) all which came back negative.
While I was taking Doxycycline my wife became pregnant. My conerns are:
Can the doxycyline effect the pregnancy? Does this antibiotic have any effect
on my sperm? Could it be linked to any type of birth defect?
  Your response is greatly appreciated.
  Thank You.
  Chris
