continued premenstrual bleeding

by julie__0, Aug 10, 1998 12:00AM

I have been doing BBT for four months, and have been trying to conceive for eight months.  I have one child already who was conceived without any difficulty.  I am sure I have been ovulating each month, but each month I begin spotting around day 8, and this continues through day 14.  On day 14 I finally begin a more normal period which lasts another week.  I finally saw a Dr. this week who was not sure what could be causing this.  He prescribed Clomid.  Do you feel this is wise?
Dear julie:
Please see my answer to Ronnie, 8/10/98.
Clomiphene was recommended with the assumption that you have an inadequate luteal phase development of the endometrium. The clomiphene will often correct this by better preparing the cells that become the corpus luteum to be an excellent source of supportive hormones (estrogen and progesterone).

Keywords: luteal phase bleeding.
