endometriosis & clomid

2 yrs ago i had a laparoscopy that showed me to have polycystic ovaries and a very bad case of endometriosis. Since then i have been on Danazol and am now on clomid after a change of hospitals. How succesful is clomid and what are my chances of finally getting pregnant, i am 23 yrs old and a smoker but i am cutting down gradually. How do I know how bad the endometriosis is now as during the laparoscopy they quaterised it(i think thats right).  Pls could somebody help me   thanks very much Z xx
Dear Z:
Endometriosis that has been cauterized during laparoscopy and then medically suppressed by danazol is likely to recur in one half of patients over a 5 year time. There is no way to diagnose endometriosis expect laparoscopy; this would not be done unless pregnancy fails to easily occur.
Cigarette smokers have a reduced efficiency to become pregnancy: cutting back is a good plan and stopping is best both from a fertility and a pregnancy perspective.
Polycystic ovary syndrome patients do not ovulate on their own and require fertility drugs such as clomiphene. On clomiphene, approximately 80% of patients will ovulate and most of that group will become pregnant.
