fertilization/ovulation

I would appreciate if you could tell me how many days after ovulation does fertilization occur. My last period began dec first. my husband and i had unprotected sex on dec 10,and 11 when i thought i was ovulating. On dec 19th i had a blood pregnancy test which was neg. A doctor told me a hcg would be positive 4 days after conceiving. I dont know if the test was done too early or not. I am due for my period dec 29. Thanks for your information.
