hcg levels?

by tracy-lyn, Dec 26, 1998 12:00AM

I have recently been experiancing some apotting and some cramping I went to the doctor and things looked fine! My question has to do with the hcg level in my blood When I first found out that I was pregnat which was a week and a half a go and my hcg level was 150 and two days ago it was 282 is this a normal increase? My LMP was Nov 20th! Could the symptoms have something to do with the level that I am at?
Dear Tracy Lynn:
With a last menstrual period of November 20, you are 42 days (6 weeks) January 1, 1999. The values of hCG you report were measured during the time when the level doubles every 2-3 days. Thus, a value of 150 rising to 282 over 10 days (a week and a half) is not what would be expected. The combination of spotting, cramping and a flat level of hCG needs to be further evaluated with your physician.
Keywords: hCG rise, spotting, cramping, early pregnancy
