miscarriage/ectopic

A friend was told via ultra sound that she had one pregnancy in her uterus and one in her tube.
I was wondering if this situation is always fatal to the pregnancy? She was told that the one in her
tube may 'move down' She was only a few weeks pregnant at the time. If she has surgery to remove the
ectopic, will the other automatically miscarry? Thank you in advance for your help.
Dear Dawnra:
Twin pregnancy wherein one is in the uterus and the other is in the fallopian tube occurs between 1/10,000 and 1/30,000 pregnancies.
The tubal pregnancy can be removed and the pregnancy in the uterus can continue. I am unaware that tubal pregnancies ever move into the uterus.
Keywords: ectopic pregnancy
