Breastfeeding 911

I need some help from you mommies that are breastfeeding. I am now havi g a problem.. i was producing so mich milk i ended up freezing a lot of it. The past week i have noticed my production dropping alot. I latch them on as much as possible and noticed they have been staying on for close to an hour so i pumped 2 hours later amd struggled to get 6 ounces between both breast yesterday and now today im hardly getting 4 ounces after 3 hours of waiting due tl shopping. Whats going on with me? I was doing so well with it. I want to continue to breast feed but it doesnt seem to be happenong anymore. I know stress is a factor so ive been taking time tomyself to relax amd stuff. I was in tears today at my wic appointment when they gave me formula vouchers... i know its safe to give babies or they wouldnt sell it.. guess it just makes me feel like im failing by not being able to make enough milk  to satisfy my babies... im still a bit hormonal i guess. What else can i do to make more milk? Or is it too late?

I feel bad....hubby doeant understand the meaning of a liberal application so I feel like she only gets the a&d when I do her diapers.

I used bag balm on my twins bums. Works so good. Breast milk digest faster than formulA so their poop will be runny and yellow. And alot more poopy diapers too. Seems every diaper chamge is poopy lol. Dr said thats normal.

They usually don't until baby starts cereal. Normal breastfed poo is liquid and seedy. As she gets older she stop going as frequently. What I do is put some sort of barrier on like A&D ointment at every diaper change but make sure her bottom is dry before applying it.

Excellent! I'm glad pumping is going better.

I've heard a couple other ladies recommend coconut oil. I may just have to try it.

Today has been much better. I started pumping more often amd for a little longer. Turns out or seems anyway that it stopped then after ten more min more comes out.
Ill try the coconut oil. Ive been using bag balm. Helps but not too much o  the crack skin. Works better on diaper rash tho

For your nipples try coconut oil....it seems to be working better than lanolin

I've always figured I make a third more than I pump. They probably like the bottle better because they don't have to work as hard and wait for the let down. I've heard the mothers milk tea is gross. If your going to go the supplement route I'd try fenugreek. I believe its one of the ingredients in the tea along with milk thistle and I believe a couple others.

Do you think you are pumping long enough? When I pump I get about 10-15 minutes of milk then it stops but if I keep going for 5 minutes longer or so I let down and get another ounce or two per side. If you are just pumping I'd try increasing how frequently you do it. It'll signal your body to make more.

They do well with bottles. My breast got so cracked and sore i had to pump and give them the bottle. They are happy either way. I went with what i was able to pump as an idea on what im producing. But they seem more satisfied with bottle feeding than they do latched on my breast. Im bad at explaining so beae with me.
The beer i wont try unless its ok with dr. But i would rather try other option first. Mothers milk sounds good. Ill get some. Is rhere a way to kniw hiw nuch im really making?

I'd try the mother's milk tea. You can get it in the health food section

Alcohol actually can decrease you milk production is what I read, either on the Mayo clinics site or The LLL. So I don't know if I'd try that or if you do Id try the NA beer but be careful because some NA beers actually have alcohol in them and it can be up to half of a regular beer.

How do you know you're not producing enough milk? Are you going by what you get in the pump? Because baby will always get more. Do they seem satisfied though? I know that my breasts can feel a bit deflated sometimes and i wonder how Bailey could possibly be getting anything, but he is. I think you're doing a great job, especially with two! They could also be having a growth spurt too like tomorrow264 said. I know that Bailey was going nearly every half hour for a while there. How do your boys go with a bottle? Just wondering cause i would love Bailey to take a bottle, think i made a mistake of not letting him have a bottle while he was really young.

Pumping is a poor indication of how much milk you are producing so don't let that freak you out. There is a good chance they are just going through a growth spurt. Things that help boost milk production are staying well hydrated, nursing frequently, eating oatmeal and garlic. Taking the herbal supplement fenugreek did wonders for me with my second son but shouldn't be taken if you have nut allergies because its related to nuts. I don't remember the amount recommended but a Google search would find it easily. Also Google lactation cookie recipe, they are made up of steel cut oats and few other things known to help milk production and I hear they are tasty.
