A Nation of Cowards???

Eric Holder, our Attorney General who is black said yesterday on National TV that "we are a nation of cowards when it comes to race relations".  Oh yeah?  Is that why Obama, who is biracial got elected?  Is that why Holder is the Attorney General?  Is that why Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell were with the Bush Administration?  Is that why almost all white Iowa voted for Obama??

This is an insult.  He needs to remember that if it had not been for all these "non black" people who voted for Obama, Obama would never gotten elected, only black votes for sure would not have been enough to get Obama in the White House.

Is there still some racism? Yes!  But a nation of cowards?? The problem with Holder and his ilk is they need to get out of this Rev. Wright mentallity and stop living in the past.  They need to get their chip off their shoulder and white people need to stop walking on eggs afraid if they look at them side ways they are labeled a racist.

Holder owes this nation an apology, especially our troops who serve, fight and lose and have lost their lives for ALL of us, black AND white.

I hope Obama is real proud of yet another embarrassment in his administration, or maybe he got the same mindset after all he called his white grandmother "a typical white woman", and in one of his books calls white people "crackers".

In my opinion in order to be a "good" president you have to surround yourself with "good" people.  So far, Obama's not done a very good job of that.  What does that say about him as a president????

Rush Limbaugh said it well:  Obama is no longer black.  He is now just our president.

For Rush, this was very mildly spoken, if you want to check it out:

I totally agree!  I too do not care what the color is.  If Juan Williams, who is a Democrat and is black had become President I would have had no problem at all,  and I am not a Democrat, but Obama this arrogant and inexperienced individual is another story.

He had an 89% approval rating when he became president, he now has a 60% approval rating,  a drop of 29%  in only one month.  His "disapproval" rating jumped from 16% to 26%.

I have to agree with angelinthemorning.  So many people supported Obama because he talked a good game & they refused to look beyond the smooth talking.  I did not support him, but it had nothing to do with his color - if he'd been purple with pink polka dots, I'd have voted for him if I'd thought he would do a good job, but I didn't think so then and I still don't.  The sad thing is that we will all have to pay because of  those that followed him like "lambs to slaughter".

This "stimulus" bill is one of the greatest follies I've ever seen!!  Why in the world does the govt think it necessary to "reward" people for making bad decisions (mortgage lenders, people who bought homes they couldn't afford to pay for, auto makers (bosses, not workers), etc. But that's another subject!!

I think the racial issue is being perpetuated more by the current administration than by anyone else.  They are making a big deal of the fact that a black man is office and they don't care what kind of job he does - just that he's black.  A lot of the people Obama has appointed to his cabinet are idiots (or even worse, crooks) and are "riding on the coat tails" of the first black President - their claim to fame.

It's telling that the topic of racial social interaction is construed as a political issue.

I'm NO Obama supporter trust me.  When I said "we should embrace that we have a first black president" I meant "embrace that it shows that racism is not like it was in the 50's and 60's anymore".  We came along way, we are not 100% there yet but deserve a lot more credit than our Attorney General Eric Holder is giving us.  But he gets a pass from the Liberal Media, why am I surprised?

Okay, well where I live I hear the snide remarks all the time. I do not agree with it, but it does still happen. My response to this post was simply that I can still see this going on. As far as Obama doing whatever he is doing, I think I will withold judgement a little while longer. He has not been in office long enough. At least he is not sitting back doing nothing.

I have to laugh b/c otherwise I'll cry.  When you say "this man just plain lied to all of us" you were referring to Obama, correct?  What I found amazing through the whole election is the way people just followed him like he was gold.  No offense, but it's like the nation didn't realize he was just spouting pure honey out of his mouth.  I guess that just proves how desperate we are as a nation that we'll just fall in line behind a man b/c he gives a pretty speech!!  I hate to say it but it was like lambs being led to the slaughter.
I know, there is still 4 years and amazing things could happen.  Just off to a rough start, it seems like.

I really tried to embrace President Obama, and his adminastration...but after some of the people he picked for cabinet post who clearly BROKE the law by not paying thier own taxes, and this stimuls bill he went all the way to Denver to sign?? and now this Eric Holder thing.. this man just plain lied to all of us..it is such a sad day for this country because of the history this man made and could have done so much good for our country now we look just as bad as we have.so so sad

Definatly a very stupid man,a nation of Cowards ,I think not . Most Americans I know take people at face value and not consider the color of their skin,I think that Wright had a big influence on black  people who listened to him including some who sat there for 20 years and then said they heard nothing...

You say "we just have learned to exist together" that is why an Attorney General should praise that step instead of telling the whole world what "cowards" we are.

BTW, racism works BOTH ways.  I made friends with a black woman 35 yrs ago, we are still friends and still in touch.  Her son was dating a white girl.  She (my friend) called me in a rage saying "you will not believe this, my son is dating a WHITE girl, a WHITE girl, can you believe this"??  She sounded totally disgusted, and in her rage must've forgotten that I too am white.  Now picture if a white woman would say the same, in the same tone of voice and in the same rage to a black woman if her son were to date a black man.  Is my friend's attitude an isolated case?  No way!  I've worked with blacks who were totally disgusted when somebody in their families dated a white person.  It works both ways.  But as long as our Attorney General insults us on national TV and puts this country back to the 1950's things will take even longer to change.

Blacks are not the only ones feeling prejudism, there are some people in the U.S. who show total prejudice against a person with an accent.  Did blacks feel the most racism? Yes! But this is 2009, embrace that we have a first black president.  Look at how many interacial couples date and get married compared to decades ago, but don't as an Attorney General tell the world what a "nation of cowards" we are.  Yes, it already made it to the Europen media what Holder said.

I did not support Obama because of his liberal policies so with that said Holder is an ***. My first exposure to black people came when I went to high school and so did the 45 people who i graduated grammer school with. Guess what the majority of us stayed friends and made a lot of new friends not just white but black. In college I hung around with a bunch of white guys but we also have  black guys in our "crew" of friends.

Again Holder is an ***. He and other liberals sees people as black or white. Well I can tell you that most of America does not see it that way. We see people for people, and we identify people based on skin color for purposes of description.

I am so tired of this race BS, if the white liberals would stop talking about race any kind of so called problems would not be here anymore.
The Republicans AKA racists according to liberals elected a black man to head the RNC. Guess what he was elected not because he was black but because he is a conservative. Colin Powell a black man was a rock star amoung republicans years ago until he went against them by supporting a liberal. Condi Rice was asked to run for President by republicans.

Now why was Obama elected...2 reasons because America didn't like the way the contry was going and throught 8 years of President Bush and republican rule was enough...very common thing to happen. And because he was black. But who cares if someone was voted into office because of his race, it's good that America has risen above race and can elect a black man. Was not who I wanted to be the first black president but it happened. Now we have to deal with him for 4 years.

I think i ranted too long and lost my point. But Holder is an ***.

I kinda understand what he is talking about. We have been taught to be so "politically correct", that we use it to cover up things instead of expose them and talk about them. We are still a racially devided country. We have just learned to exist together. Overall. Example: How many people have you heard put Obama down as a president because he is black and how many blacks have you heard praise him because he is a black president.  Have we really gotten beyond it? Not entirely. But we have made milestones on that subject.  If we were not cowards, I guess we would be what? jailbirds?
