The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. Very good! He's written a few books on this subject and they're very uplifting and positive. Something that would be good for you to read right now, I think.

Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth

The power of positive thinking.
Being happy
One of my favorite books is the # 1 bestseller "The Seat of the Soul" by Gary Zukav.
I have two favorites. They are both by Claire Weekes and can be purchased through Amazon one is called, "Hope and Help for Your Nerves" and the other is called " Peace from Nervous Suffering". These books are great for folks going through anxiety or depression.
MJ thats because so many are sold there is a glutt of them, I have a lot of self help books and they dont sell quickly .....cherie I will send you mine free gratis to a friend if you would like.. I need an addess PM me
Okay this is off topic, but when I worked in Goodwill self help books and exercise work-out videos were the bulk of things I had to throw out.
My favorite right now is "When you Eat at the Refrigerator, Pull up a Chair" by Geneen Roth. It's about feeling good about yourself even on days when you have what she calls "fat and ugly days". It's not a very long book, but it sure says a lot even if you aren't over weight.
"Out of the Blue" delight comes into our lives, by Mark Victor Hansen & Babara Nichols ,
Here's a site that gives some info on "I'm OK, You're OK".

I guess this book is still very popular!
There is a self-help book that is a million years old, but it was a #1 best seller back 20 -30 years ago. "I'm OK, Your OK". It came out in the early days when self-help became all the rage. I'd like to read it again and see if it still fits for current times.
Something that is quite relevant to today's economic situation since people have to hold onto their jobs even if they aren't that happy, is the book "Survival Guide for Working with Humans - dealing with whiners, back-stabbers, know-it-alls, and other difficult people" by Gini Graham Scott. I have a tendency to push back on people who lie, are unfair, etc. and this book helped me to learn to get along better.
Umm I am not sure if this will fall in the range but if you are in psychology class you might want to read these three books. "A Child Called IT" by Dave Peltzer, "The Lost Boy" also by Dave Peltzer and "The Man Named Dave" by the same guy. He speaks out about abuse and these books were actually about him growing up in an extremely abusive home.
He also gives motivational speaches to people.
