End of the Mayan Callender, how accurate is it, eare we 3 years away from the end of the World...many people believ in this prophesy. They say there will be a Polar Shift , earthquakes, volcanos, Tsunamis, New York would shift to the Arctic, Alaska would be under the Sun...Do you think this is balloney , or could it happen what would you do if it was proved that it could happen in 3 years time .

... and California was supposed to have fallen into the Pacific Ocean after a massive earthquake, back in the 1970s.
... and, all the computer supported systems around the world were supposed to have shutdown and crashed at the stroke of midnight in the year 2000.

I'll believe it when I see it. But, I sure hope I don't live to see it.

I reckon they just got tired out dealing with all the mathematical equating and just left the big rock lying around, they took a long holiday and then forgot where they left it.

I reckon that the evening of Dec 20 2012 will be the biggest party of all time! Think I might start making my party dress now! Bah! It's only 3 years away, I have plenty of time!

Apparently a lot of folks do believe that it is true ,I agree with you I think its one of the many myths that go around , it makes an interesting, mysterious read though ...As you say It will be a fun night ....

Ha ha Swampy, where do you come up with these things? I loved that one.

by heatherlynn22, Nov 09, 2009 09:55PM
haha loved it swampy.

i honestly think everyone is just blowing it all out of proportion. even though the movie does look super awesome and dh and i are definitely going to see it.

we watched a documentary a few weeks back (i can't remember what it's called) but a descendant of the myans said that it was just the end of their calendar and meant nothing. lol.

All this makes one wonder???? I heard all the afore mentioned. My son says the same thing as you about the Mayans and their calendars. It is the end of that one calendar.
People have been trying to state the world's end for years. No one knows this. What is
peculiar is that people from different parts of the world come up with the same information. ????Edgar Cayce, Nostradumas, Mayans?????

It will be interesting, but I doubt it will be any different, except for the way people will react to it. Wasn't there a lot of fuss when it became the year 2000? I'm sure there were other milestone years and events that made people think it was the end.
After all when that calender was built, it was a very long time ago. People likely never thought the earth as they knew it would make it so far.

Some of those other things mentioned, like polar shifts, etc may be happening, but I doubt it will be a set year. It would have to be a gradual process if it happens at all.

Oh and btw if you want some really interesting and bizarre reading, try reading about hollow earth. Believers think cultures like the Mayans, Aztecs, etc disappeared because they went inside of the world.

by margypops, Nov 11, 2009 01:37PM
Do you mean into the center of the earth Mj  like in the movie, well I never heard of that one ,I think what feeds the imagination is when we get a year when Disasters happen..folks then say there we are its happening just as was predicted...I like Mysteries so it be be an interesting Xmas in 2012....

I've read articles about the Mayan calender and it's doesn't necessarily say that for sure the world will end or there will be an apocalypse lol

It merely talks about new beginnings and how our world will be changing and it all depends on we humans as a society to decide that change, meaning it can be either good or bad. It talks about the advancement our species could possibly achieve, depending on our society as a whole. It doesn't say that the earth will explode and humanity will end as we know it lol

The whole thing sounds to me like a warning, that if we are not appreciative of this earth we live on and the people we are on it with, then our world will fall apart. And that we all need to work towards a better world society, with more peace and respect, and appreciation of what the earth provides us and of each other. i mean if you really think about it, the only thing on this earth we really need is food/water/clothing(depending on where you live)/and each other, and those are all the things most of us take for granted.

OMG !!! This is a major problem. My Playgirl Calender ends on Dec.31,2009 ! Does that mean all the good looking men will disappear? :o  LOL
I watched a documentary on PBS the other day about 2012 and all the things that could happen, maybe some day, but they really don't think so soon.
