Don't know where to post this...

Ok, so I was searching and checking in my neighborhood if there were any sex offenders...I knew that there were those that work in the area but just found out that three doors down is a rapist. I haven't been able to sleep for several days--not related....now my mind is racing and I know that i won't sleep tonight....

now days you have to be over protective. Times are the same as they were when your mom was a kid or even when you and I where kids.

I have looked them up in my area as well and for a small town there are quiet a few.

quietfeather-- No I would not turn the boy in or press charges. If it is consensual I don't think he should pay the rest of his life. At 18 or 19 years old they are still teenagers themselves and I don't believe in punshing them for dating 16 year olds. That is only 3 years difference.  Now in my case I was 16 and my DH was 24 when we first started dating and my mom met him and he was very polite around her. She learned to trust him and didn't mind it to much. Heck she couldn't say much she was 16 and my dad was 24 when they got together. Me and my DH have been married almost 9 years now and even though it has been a rocky road we are still together.

well that does bite but he should of thought of this before...if the parents turned him in they must of had reason. i would hope this wouldnt stop parents from protecting their daughters, or sons for that matter. i dunno what i would do if i found out my 16 yr old daughter was having sex with her 19 yr old bf. i guess if he was her bf and it was counsentual that is diff. still i wouldnt want her doing something she isnt ready for or something she feels pressure to do. open communication and all that.  but would i turn him in? i dunno. would u? this question is for anybody

they are all over I checked a similar site, does yours list the degree of offenses? ie,,,many a 18-22 ish men are labeled sex offenders from dating /being seually active w teen girls who lie about their age,,this kinda is a grey area. the only case where I think the labeling of sex offenders may not be morally right..imagine a 19 year old boy having relations with a  15 yo who looks and lies and says she is 17, it happens, Mom and Dad find out press charges...just a thought.

now the rapists, pedophiles of children, peeping toms, men who like to expose their selfes thats a whole different thing..its good the public is informed...

I hate to tell you but they're all over. I'm not sure you could find a neighborhood without sex offenders. And that's just the registered ones! At least you know where they are. What about the countless ones who haven't been caught? That's the ones I'd be more worried about.
I understand how you feel. We did this when we were looking to buy a house. We found one we really liked, then found out a registered sex offender lived right down the street so we nixed that one. Well, guess what? We've lived in our house for almost 4 years now and there weren't any offenders when we bought it but we have a few down the street from us now. I'm not going to let it drive me crazy, though. I already keep my doors and windows closed and locked, especially at night. I also don't let my little one play outside by himself. I'm not sure there's a whole lot more you can do than that. Unfortunately, they're all over.
