Not sure where to post this, but with a walking machine an (elliptical) is it of benefit still to do say half hour a day at 10 min intervals?, this is all i can manage for now, well sometimes even five min..Does it matter that you cant do half hour all at once?... Dawn

In order to lose weight you have to do cardio for at least 20-25 minutes to burn fat.  The heartrate doesn't increase until about 5 minutes in so I wouldn't even count the first 5 minutes.  In order to see some kind of change or weight loss, you would have to do at least 35-40 minutes of cardio at least 3 times a week.  My advice would be to start off slow and gradually increase the amount of time and resistance.  You don't have to do this the first few times you work out but the more you do it, the more your stamina will increase and the longer you will be able to stay on the machine.  You can start of on a low incline but increase the resistance and than as time goes on when you feel you need more of a challenge you can increase the incline.  With the eliptical, the change in the incline allows you to hit different muscle groups.

just go at your own pace and work your way up! You might even try to do it twice a day or maybe take a walk in the evenings! But if you will watch your calorie intake and if you are moving around at least some i think you will at least a small improvement! You will just see more the longer you can stay on the eliptical!

Good for you, it just takes time but as long as you're consistent you will be running the marathon soon enough...lol.
