I think 2 men were picking out a victim...

My family and I were on our way back home from a 4 hour trip to an appt.  Well we stopped at a restaurant/truck stop to get some food and stuff.  My husband walked to the truck stop side as my child and I waited on our food order to come up (to go).  I got a creepy feeling as a guy walked up to me and was watching me and looked down at my purse and my child too. He watched me as I walked away too.  The look in his face I won't forget and left me shivering!  The way he acted was just downright creepy.  Then there was this guy on the other side standing in the doorway between the truck stop part and the restaurant and he was just standing there staring at me and my child!!! Again this guy was giving a creepy scarey look as if he was scoping us out to be a victim.  I have never felt this way in my entire life around anyone.  He watched intently! Thank goodness our food came up and I told my child "let's go find your dad". We quickly went to the otherside and stood by my husband.  Then we left fast.

Okay I evidently wasn't imagining this because I mentioned to my husband and I hadn't even got the whole thing out when my husband told me where these 2 men were and what they looked like and told me that he thought they were trying to pick out a victim.  He had an uneasy feeling about them and said that they must have ended up seeing that we were with large 250 lb man and didn't act upon it in the end.  So that was the worst thing...if my husband saw them and felt that too then I wasn't imagining it.

What do we do to keep safe? I mean if my husband had been in the car or something or if we had been alone, something could have happened.  I know there is a law now where we live that you can carry a weapon if you get a license for and take a class, but you can't just take them into businesses...most have signs. So I couldn't have protected us that way.  What is the best thing to do? I thought if the man would have said he had a gun and tried to take us (even with my husband in the other half) I thought I could have pushed my son out of the way and told him to get my husband and I could have screamed and ran....There were other ppl there so Idk.  I mean how do these things usually happen when ppl get abducted? We really don't know most of the time.  I had a bad dream about them 2 guys last night. I was really shaken up.

Any advice?

My own feeling is that a concealed handgun is far more important to a woman than to a man, and if you receive training and obtain proper legal authorization, it is reasonable and proper to have one on your person.

Very few places have signs that do not permit firearms to be carried by licensed permit holders. In fact I have never seen a restaurant with such a sign.

On the other hand, let's not become paranoid. There was nothing  here that I can see that would warrant a police complaint.

I think CCW laws are good but you should be able to carry in to any place but a bar and courts, for obvious reasons, criminals don't observe laws and posted signs so the whole concept of businesses not allowing guns to be carried in puzzles me.

Thanks! Yes it definitely was. I was talking to my husband this evening about it again telling him I had nightmares and thought about it all day...that I am still freaked out by it.  It was the scariest thing ever. I kept thinking to myself today, "omg! I left my son sit at the table by himself as I took literally 5 steps away and that was too much!!!!" I really should have had him at my hip! I thought with all those ppl around it was safe until I had seen that second guy and it really freaked me out more.  I know that this time my instincts were right.  They say always trust your instincts and well I just hope that no one got hurt or taken that night from around there at all.  That everyone there stayed safe.

Make a report to the police with as many details as you can, for me I would consider a weapon but thats your choice, and I guess it must depend where you live now we still have our 2nd amendment to bear arms I believe .If this situation conmes up again and I hope it does'nt go straight away into the garage or amongst others and tell someone .Chosose the places you stop at so they are well lit .I sympathise it must have been scary .Good Luck
