I found an interesting 1980's song. I stumbled upon it playing some music my dad gave me:

Land Of Confusion from  Genesis:

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street

Now did you read the news today
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
Burning into the night

Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is the land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make is a place worth living in

Oh Superman where are you now
Everything's gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, men of power
Are losing control by the hour

This is the time
This is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go round
Tell me why, this is a land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make is a place worth living in

I remember long ago -
When the sun was shining
The stars were bright
All through the night
And the sound of your laughter
As I held you tight
So long ago -

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know, we'll never keep

Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion

This is the world we live in
These are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make is a place worth fighting for

This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to.

I was also none of the above.  I started out a punk rocker, went to death rock and ended up sort of grunge/ post punk by the end of the decade and the beginning of the next.

BTW death rock might mean something else now, but then it was what goth is now.  Sort of.  The 80's was a fun time for glam revival too.

Hated Reagan, knew he was doing everything wrong and that it would inevitaly lead to disaster.  Turns out, was totally right!!!  Sorry,  just had to toss that in!  :>

I was none of the above.  I had a look that was more of a cross between a Madonna and Punk look.  I was friendly with everyone (geeks and cheerleaders alike)--not part of any "group".  Refused to conform.  Hated cliques.  Was elated on graduation day and couldn't understand why people were crying.

Didn't we all "Grow Up" in the 80's...Unless you were born after December 31st/89....But I am a product of the 70's, child of the 80's. Teenager of the 90's.  And still don't want to grow up.

I grew up with  GI Joe, Thunder Cats, & my Pogo Ball.  I was tuned in when MTV turned on.  I blame Sesame Street for my A.D.D., and love it for it

I've been online most of my life, and my first skates were in-line
My friends never talked about the new song on the radio,
we talked about the new video on MTV.

You can keep you Bradies, and  Partridge Families
I'll take the Keatons, or the Taylors anyday.

Your mother may have been a car,
but I grew up watching and Alien live in a garage.

You can have your mister wizard.
I'll take Bill Nye, or Beaker anyday.

I was pretty young, like age 6.  I don't think I was any of the above. I lived outside, in my own world and it didn't matter to me what "assigned" roles people played in the social status.

That in it's own way is liberating... except I was likely placed into "the nerd" role by my peers....

That cracks me up because I can remember my older sister being MADLY in love with Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy.  I actual had a little Hardy Boys turntable with microphone that had David Cassidy on it.  Hey - what about the Leif Garrett thing??

:)

I was a Madonna chick of the 80's - ACDC - Ozzie - I was eclectic, I suppose.  VERY Preppy though.  I still have an Izod sweater that I dearly love.
