Many songs bring memories to me. I was in "chorus" in middle school and we sang so many songs. It always takes me back. They were mostly Santa songs or Feliz Navidad.
Winter Wonderland for me. I can remember being 6 and my step mom singing that song and playing the piano. She was so beautiful and had the most lovely voice I had ever heard. She could play any instrument she touched. I loved the way she sang this song inparticular.
Her and my dad divorced not long after that.
Silver Bells for me too. My Dad an Mom divorced when I was 6 1/2 y/o. I can still hear him singing Silver Bells in his deep voice. When he was living, it reminded me of him and now that he is dead. AT times it brings tears for the times I missed as a family as I was growing up. I rarely remember them fighting and fussing. That's what made it so hard I guess. Don;t know if back in very early 60's they didn't let children hear when they did. I still hear the bells and can imagine them hanging from street lights with fog and snow glistening on night. the light shining shines on the snow as it drifts to the ground. So vivid. Madlyn
8th grade chorus recital. Silver Bells. Only 1 problem. Could not sing then. Still cannot sing a note!
Wow. So many of them. But, Jingle Bells has a special memory. When I was about 6, we were singing Jingle Bells when all of a sudden I thought I heard sleigh bells and ran to the back of our country home and saw a sleigh being pulled by reindeer and Santa was saying "Ho, ho, ho.!" I ran back and told my parents and they didn't believe me. My brother then went to the back window and saw the same thing. It eventually left and I'm not kidding you I truly believed it was Santa Claus. It was so wonderful! I told people about how I saw Santa that year for a long time. Even as an adult it's such a vivid memory and so when I hear that song I feel like I'm right back being that little girl looking out the back window seeing Santa!
