I've been a horrible procrastinator all of my life. It seems to be getting worse with age. Maybe I just don't remember what I'm supposed to be doing anymore!

Yep, I am the same way. I make lists for each day of the week. I have to fulfil what is on the list for that day, no matter what! I do not know if i am a procrastinator, but I am definately lazy! lol

Maybe you just need a break or a new direction in your life.  I get bored very easily and start procrastinating everything.  Spice things up a bit, try a new hobby, rearrange furniture (I do that alot, my husband says it's a suprise what he might come home to!!), etc.

Maybe you got tired of your own routine and your body and mind are looking for change. Procrastinating is good sometimes lol. Enjoy as much as you can, Margy. So what if you don't feel like calling people today? You can do it tomorrow lol...

I used to rearrange my furniture all the time when I was a house wife. My husband once told me that he better not go blind with me at home. I still do rearrange for each season, just not every week anymore.

That made me laugh sorry I always laugh at the wrong times....I horrified my whole Family at my Mom in Laws funeral by having Hysterics in the funeral car.. thing is the funeral director sat in front of me had a Toupee on and it kept sliding around on his head, I was emotional already at loosing her, so the hysteria wouldnt stop...can you imagine it! RThey tell that story every chance they get...Maybe I will arrange the furniture on the lord of the manor. that would shut him up as I dont ever move anything it satys put from the day it got planted more. Hey I have decided I simply need to eat more ice cream.....

I would have responded yesterday but I um  um  um waited until today. I have been getting worse in the last 8 years at procrastination, hmm same amount of time I have been taking vics. I do well with structured things that have hard deadlines and will kick butt to get it done by the deadline, but I find myself waiting longer and longer to get started.

I am the Queen of Procrastination.  Seriously, all my life I've been this way.  I will say though, that I work best, when under pressure, so it kinda works for me.  Sometimes, I will switch things up a bit, in order to get 'em done.  I do things backwards, or just do things in a different way than I normally would.  I think boredom is part of it, but not completely.  I think maybe some people are just born this way.  We're no less driven or ambitious people...we are just slow to get started.  If you're like me, once you DO start something, it's hard to stop and I often do more than what's needed.  Depression could be a concern too of course, and sometimes, depression comes in different shapes....it's not always with the "traditional" symptoms as one would think.  For example, getting agitated easily is a symptom.  Try switching things around a bit, in your daily routines....if things don't improve for you, you might want to consider talking to your doctor about whether or not you may be depressed.

Until then, consider this as normal for you, and recount this motto:
Procrastinators are people too!

So having said that I live in CA and I dont know what the coffee shops are like where you guys live.. I have had thoughts of a coffee house,/ come bookstore, put a bunch of good old furniture in there for folks to sit on, I sell books, so I would also sell them in the shop, Patio at the back or front so my doggie friends can swing by for a bark or two..pictures on the walls ,to be sold aswell of course, I saw this once in Santa Monica and there was quite a gathering there, I would sell coffee and cakes and bagels and muffinsmornings ,, then in the afternoon sell afternoon tea english style with English cakes and goodies.crumpets etc  what do you think?/

thats a wonderful idea..sounds like it would be a sucess..if you have any artist friends you could display their art work on the walls and sell that too, its endless possibilities as to how to decorate,,,etc...I love the idea.....keep the menu simple as you sugest....and sell really high quality coffee and tea...

I would like green tea with lemon and a blueberry muffin please...there your first order..

Good thing you don't live with me... I'd make you move it all back, or be the one moving it back every time you moved it out of place.  Needless to say we pretty much kept our furnature in the same spots while I was there.  Unless I was part of the process.

Procratination: story of my life. Can one procrastinate on life in general?  It tends to be things I dread doing, things I enjoy doing, things that take a process, etc..

I believe it's because while I have it in the "idea" phase that I have everything perfect to how I want it. The moment I attack it and start doing it, then I risk doing it less than perfect.

Oh yeah. I still haven't gotten a new keyboard either, but I did figure out how to take the keys off and clean under the keys....  Somewhere there is a website that shows how to do that.  Maybe I'll load it up......tomorrow.

I'm also that way when I start something. It has my undivided attention until one of a two things happen: that I finish, 2 get forced away from the project. If I get forced away (taking a break to eat, having to go to bed, work, etc) then I may have trouble getting started again.

That's why I tend to put off eating and sleeping, etc when I get involved in a task. I can tune out just about anything when I am focused.

Since I have been sick, I procrastinate much more.

I think it is because I have less energy and resilience.  I often feel I need to choose, I can't do all that I want before I get worn out.  So I'll procrastinate certain chores and necessary activities so that I am more often able to do thinks that I like/enjoy.

Oh well I procratinated all day today..........better go and catch up

I used to be driven by nature as well but now I really have to kick myself out of procrastination. Being on MH doesn`t make it any easier...

When I look back, procrastination always happened during times when I was either totally exhausted (now) or very overwhelmed with something (as a teenager). The inner voice syas "no, sit down and think this through" but the outside circumstances force you to forget what you needed to think about, day after day. And suddenly years have gone by and you only have this dull feeling that you need to ctach up with some unresolved issues.

So the first step forward is to change what os keeping you from taking a deep breath and starting to think. Could be yourself or others or the string of obligations you are tied up in.
