New Cars for clunkers ..anyone
Have a dilemma , the husband wants a new vehicle , thing is we have seen this 4,500 you can get off the price and that seems like a good deal, thing is we dont want a small' vehicle we like to be safe and drive a larger one, have any of the members done this taken your vehicle in and got the cash for Clunkers deal, what is the largest car /suv you can get.?
well not good news guys , the$ 4500 anyone thought was cash, off the price of the new car ,well sorry ....just come out that it will be taxed as income...........
Of course now a lot of the used cars are now being scrapped it will put the price of a used car way up, so all will pay more , here... the dealers are waiting for money ...Hey the Ford explorer was the one most scrapped they are great cars ,mine is a few years old now,but still not a clunker.
We started to do this too with an old old gran prix that my husband drives....it would have been in the program and we were thinking about the Ford edge...I have an explorer that I drive and I'm not ready to give it up...It gets 22 in the summer time. Not great, but for the convenience of my deer smashing 4 wheel drive, I want to keep it...gas guzzler or not. We can't afford payments on a new car....or should I say we won't afford payments. Good heavens, I can buy a house for what you can buy some of these new cars and they don't build them like they used to...I'm sticking to preowned....for now.
PS...All the clunkers were American and all the new cars were Toyota and Honda.....LOL
Just an update we went to Ford to check out vehicles yesterday and they told us that the cars for clunkers is out of money again in this area and also the dealers have only had a fraction of the money promised them so they are kind of MAD, , we didnt go in to get the deal as we had already figured that it didnt appy to us, our SUV isnt clunkerish enough ...
I always say, if the government gives you a "gift", you can count on it : there will most definitely be strings attached.

We decided not to go the clunkers route they have had it in UK for ages thats where the government got the idea from, it wouldnt work, also we realised we wouldnt be able to get the kind of car we want so thanks guys it was the DDhs misunderstanding of the whole process, but we went online and got the facts, we dont even qualify ...
You can't buy a gas guzzler and get the $4500...the idea is to replace your gas guzzler with a car that is better on gas, that is a stipulation in the Clunker Program...and it is not just for new cars from Japan and Germany...as a matter of fact, lots of American auto makers are offering to match the $4500 OR give you $3500 off as well as the $4500...we were going to take advantage of the Clunker Program, but, we had suspended insurance coverage on our Van, and because it wasn't insured for 12 consecutive months, we CAN'T get the $4500...I think that sux BIG time!! The only reason we let the Van sit in our driveway, is because of the lousy economy...we couldn't afford to insure it or gas it up!!!! One hand giveth...and the other....gives you the finger!! ;)
Go to (Cars . gov) first to see if you qualify and take it from there.....There are junkload of stipulations
I have a nephew that had an old truck. It ran good but had well over 200.000 miles on it. He needs a truck because he hauls his harley around in the bed of it from state to state. He did not vote for the present admin, but did take advantage of the cars for clunkers. It is the first time in his life he was able to purchase a new vehicle! He is absolutely thrilled. Got it for much less than he ever could have imagined. Im happy for him. I have a 2006 toyota and would not trade it for the world! It gets 34 miles to the gallon and I fill it up every few weeks. I will drive it till it drops! Before this one, I always bought Chrysler vehicles.
Yes I am going to buy a ford I have had them since I have been in America ,and yes I am going to buy a Gas Guzzler......
We bought a pre-owned Ford Escape and haven't had a problem with it at all in the past 2.5 yrs. It has over 80,000 miles on it.

The new cars that are being sold in this deal are German and Japanese cars, didnt help America much did it.I also hear the government will have to put more of our money into it..thank goodness I did nt go there .....

I looked into doing this here since I drive a clunker let me tell you. My car is so bad it has no ac I am putting a tank of gas and more oil in the car every two days. I hate my car and if you have ever heard that song by Adam Sandler "POS car" well that is my car.
Anyway I looked on a couple of sites and believe it or not my car did not qualify because if I spent the money to fix everything wrong with it then it wouldn't be that bad on gas. I am thinking it has over 250,000 miles on it and too much wrong but accourding to those sites to qualify for the 4500 I would have to find a car that beats my cars gas mileage by 10 mpg. That means a tiny car that won't fit me, dh and three kids. One of which is still in a carseat.

Well we did google the differant sites and got more information, we WONT be doing this,as it seems like the dealers here have run out and are hoping for MORE money ,so this sounds like madness to us, where is it all coming from, and the planned healthcare will be more of the same when money runs out ...lets print more this country will go Broke...........

I bet it costs an arm and a leg, the husband is now saying.... hey we are going to be paying for this its going to be on our taxes..jollyman ...I will google that one to find the price I bet I dont like it ....still its good we havent been banned from driving bigger vehicles...Yet..... I guess it is the Gas consumption .
take a lokk at the Hybird Toyota Highlander, which is a very nice SUV plus gets excellent gas milage
