I would start up a big business and give jobs to people like me that have trouble finding work due to restrictions on a health level,as we are still useful,go for holidays while I am able too.then I would build a big house on many acres for people that are lonely and a lots of unwanted animals for them to care for.the profits from the business would pay for the animals care.

I would pay off some bills, buy a bunker in the Swiss Alps just in case global nuclear power struggles or bio wars escalate. I would maintain our normal life but without the financial worries for as long as my son is in school to let him have the option to lead a "normal" life. I would take care of his financial future and also relieve my brother from paying back a loan. And finally I would donate a huge chunk of money to an institution that fights organized crime.
As for work - I love my job but having a lot of money would entice me to re-build the whole industry I work in. To be less shallow and wasteful. I would probably invest into a new company concept and work at a higher level. Or withdraw into my cabin and paint or write a bunch of useless books...

Would you continue to work:
Yes, but not in my current job.  I would do volunteer work and open that gourmet food shop I dream about.

What would you do with the money:
The gourmet shop, set up a healthcare fund for my son (he is ill with ulcerative colitis and does not have disability coverage), travel, buy a home and donate.

Would it change you:
I suspect it would.  I would be more generous (because I can) to my friends and family with gifts, I would have less stress in my life, and I would have to be cognisant to not allow myself to take money for granted and not act as though I have.

Would you continue to work:
Yes I love working in clinics.

What would you do with the money:
I’m big into helping others, but first I have to admit I would pay off my bills…

Would it change you:
I think money changes everyone…but I sure hope that it wouldn’t.

I don't work now (SAHM) so I doubt that I would work then. I would want DH to take some time off to build our bigger house and get some other projects going around here (he would like to build a totally green efficient home) and I would make sure my family was set financially. Would put away money for the kids in a trust account. After I got all that done then I would finally get a chance to go back to school and take Holistic Health and Wellness!!

Would you continue to work:   Absolutely, but doing charity work and helping others.

What would you do with the money:   Pay off my daughter's house and bills while she continues her education.  She is struggling to raise 4 children, work, be a mother, a wife, a beautician and go to school full-time in a dental hygienist program.  Give a big chunk to my mom so she doesn't have to worry how to support herself and just let her enjoy life.  Help others less fortunate.  No mansions or new cars for me, am happiest living simply.

Would it change you:   Yes, greatly.  Would allow time to not have to work at a formal job, but to work helping others.  It would also be a huge responsibility to use the money wisely and creatively ... figuring out how to help others in a positive way.  It makes me think of the saying "give a person a fish and you feed him for a day ... teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".  Would want to be creative enough to help people in a manner that would help them for a lifetime ... with some type of provision for them to simply "pay it forward".

I would probably work part time. What would I do with the money? I would first pay off all our debts. Then I'd help pay off my family members debts and maybe a few friends. I would give some money to the church and my missionary friends overseas because they're dirt poor, pretty much.
Then if I had any left, I'd get a ranch on a big piece of land, buy some horses and a few chickens and take in all the abused, unwanted animals. I would love to do that.

I would work...of course it would be work I wanted to do.

I would buy land somewhere in the Appalachians or Rockies...which means I'd probably start stockpiling weapons for "doomsday"!! (...and...buy horses)

OH NO!! Money creates paranoia!!!

I would not change intrinsically. I would, however, to take on the problems that come with being rich as opposed to the problems that come with being broke. ;)

I personaly know 3 people who hit the lottery...only one did good with it.
This is my sister in laws story
Posted: June 1, 2005, 7:12 pm

A woman who bought a lottery ticket at the urging of her dying father won almost $1 million the day he passed away.

Yolanda Williams won the $979,440 prize after her father, Frank Reppa, sent her from his hospital room May 24 to go to a convenience store and buy a ticket. The two had always bought lottery tickets together.

"My father gave this to me," said Williams, 50, a retired custodian for the St. James City post office in Lee County on the Gulf Coast. 'It is a blessing and a gift."

Williams turned in a Mega Money ticket bearing the numbers 18-21-34-43 and the Megaball 20, to lottery officials Tuesday in Tallahassee. She took her winnings in a one-time lump sum, rather than $1.3 million spread over 20 years.

Williams said she took on the job of caring for her ailing father six years ago. Williams and Reppa, 79, played the Florida lottery almost every day — sometimes they would spend a dollar or sometimes $10 on the game, she said.

"I shop all over for tickets," Williams said. 'I'm a gambler and he's a gambler. If we had $100 in our pockets, we'd buy a hundred tickets, scratch-offs, lottery, whatever."

Williams and her husband, Sherman, a disabled commercial fisherman, have five children and five grandchildren.

Neighbor Tom Desantis, 37, said the family has struggled in the five years he has known them.

"They always had it hard," he said. 'You do what you can do to get by."

Now Williams and her husband are considering buying 140 acres in north Florida and paying off some of her father's bills with the winnings.

"This gave my father dignity at his funeral," Williams said. 'May my father rest in peace."

Bokeelia is located at the north end of Pine Island in the Gulf of Mexico, just west of Cape Coral.

Now my part of it:
Her father was not resposive for days.  They spent every dollar they had on lottery money.  We had to pick up the slack when food wasn't to be found, bills wheren't paid yada yada yada
They also won a settlement on case which gave them 1.3 million dollars total with an inuity of 4K a month for 20 years as part of the settlement.  They went broke in 8 months, refinanced the only home they had in their whole life from the lotto money for 75K went through that in like 3 months...The IRS didn't take out all the taxes because they knew it all  and they owe the IRS 75K plus penalties and interest.  No tax attorney wants to take her case.  My family didn't get one dime of the money, didn't want any of it...I was foolish enough to give them $600.00 because they where going to loose their home and had a signed contract that fell through a few months ago, not to see a penny of it.  None of her children or her husband or herself has worked since they won the lottery.  They are far worst off than they ever where.
I don't play the lottery because there is no easy way out and it's for people who are bad at economics.
Can you tell I'm in a good mood today or what lol :)
If I did hit the lottery which I don't play I would build a new church, invest the rest and continue to work.
Blessings are from God not the lottery.  What was meant to be a Blessing from God she turned into a curse IMHO

I would work part time.  Very part time.

I would set up some sort of trust fund for my grandchildren and sons, but it would have to be very carefully set up for my older son, b/c he'd squander it all very quickly.
But I'd want to be sure my family was financially set.
I'd also pay off my sisters house for her.
I'd pay off our mortgage and build a log cabin where the old house is.
The rest....I'm leary of fiinancial institutions right now...It would seem difficult to put it into a lot of different banks so not as to exceed the FDIC limits and lose it all when our financial system comes to a screeching halt.
I'd have to get some good financial advice on what to do with it.

Change me?

Yes, of course.

Would I continue to work?
I would not work anymore, I would stay home full time with my daughter.

What would I do with the money?
I would buy acres and acres of land and build an animal shelter/animal foster care/rehabilitation center, put enough away for my daughter's education, invest, help family, friends, and neighbors.

Would it change me?
Yes, even though it would make me more comfortable, it still brings a whole new set of problems, (ow how I'd love to have some those having too much money related problems)!
