What were (are) your grandparent's names?

Its interesting how names go in and out of style. The book "Freakanomics" has a whole chapter on how names migrate though different social classes, and based on this they predict the top baby names in the year 2030.

But anyway, what were your grandparent's name?

Swampy's grandmothers were named Clema and Agnes. Clema's mother was named Ellen.

Occasionally you still hear of an Ellen, but you almost never hear of a Clema or an Agnes.

My maternal grandmothers name is Geraldine Mona (yeah... lol) My maternal grandfather was named John Patrick.

Paternal Grandmother is Grace Ruth and paternal grandfather is Albert John (My dads name to...even though everyone calls him Johnny. He hates the name Albert and being named after his dad.)

Funny, I know a Ellie Rose and a Evelyn Rose.
My middle name is Rose, I always felt so proud of it because it wasn't your usual Ann or Marie, now it is so common. I am still going to use it if I have a girl though since it is my Grandma's name, I can't stop the tradition now.

Andi,  I like your choice in names.  So,  you have an Asa too.  When my grandfather was named,  his parents opened the Bible to a random page,  and the first male name they came to was his name.  Asa.  I love it.  He has a grandson,  and a great grandson named after him.  

I really love classic names.  They're so graceful.  You can tell when you hear them,  whether they are boys or girls.  I don't know why that's so important to me,  but I like gender specific names,  and names that only have one predictable spelling.  I just really don't like names where it's anyone's guess whether they are male or female,  and how may capitalized or lower case letters,  or y's and ae's there are.

Roy Stoll (back when they used Grandma's maiden name for middle name) and Eleanor, step-grandparents were Justin (female) and Bill

My dh's were:

John Asa (where T's middle name was derived) and Ella Rose

and his adopted grandparents were/are Clay (where CJ's name came from) and Jean (real name is Mildred)

I like the older names, obviously. Jonathan Avery, Tristan Asa, and Clayton Jack.

Had we had a girl, she would have been Evelyn Rose

My adopted mom's mother's name is Clara Belle...yes you read that right Howdy Doody fans. She has always hated her name.

And I had a step-aunt named Lola Mae.
