Hey all, I have to do a report in Patient Care Tech 1 on a culture, teachers trying to enforce diversity and others rights, I am not all that into it,,so decided to make it into a game..can you help me with a poll, you pick, I will write the two page report and put it up as a journal page,,voting will be decided in one week,,,I know its not exciting but hey..Im stuck..

How about Germany? I have took a couple German classes in High School and I think that would be a good culture to do your report on. :)

ok liking the input thanks and I did put three of the choices cause I know people from, can 'interview" my online friends.  Please Help , my cousin is a German teacher Im 1/4 German I should have put that as a choice.My dads 1/2 German !/2 Hungarian,,my moms a lot of European stuff...ophhhs getting an idea for new thread,

You should pick a culture that you know absolutely nothing about.  That would make it more interesting for you to do......and possible make it fun.  I chose Germany for a culture report in Human Anatomy II a couple of yrs back.  At first, I didn't want to be bothered and later I got into it!

so its not unusual to get a culture report for a med class huh? I feel like im in social studies LOL I thought about doing Ethiopia or Egypt,,something noe one elas in class would do, also since seeing Slum dog Milllionare the country of India ias very interesting

No, it's not unusual at all.  I was such the unhappy camper about the BS report.  To be "medical", they DID have us choose a country and research how prevalent diabetes was in that country.  That ALONE would have been fine and dandy, but I didn't get why we needed to include culture, geography, lifestyle, etc along with it.  It was interesting, but I already took English for 2 semesters.  Know what I mean??????  LOL

Greece is a very beautiful country!  =D

Yes my schoo, dos some odd things they fill what classes are available for example i currently have anatomy II and have yet to have anatomy one some of the cellular components and such are part of the rest of the systems and we have not learned them, believe it or not I tested out of English and regular math but I do need medical math, my keyboarding skills stink, I had a broken finger during that class never got my speed over 30 wpm,,but I had fingers buddy taped so it was a challenge,

You gotta be kidding!!!!!  They have the cells included in the separate systems-WOW!!  We had a whole chapter alone on cells and body tissues in Human Anatomy I.  I guess they figured that those are the building blocks to the organs.  Then, each chapter went by organ systems and major detail with each individual organ-cells and all!  Good LORD, those were the hardest classes that I've ever taken.  No freaking joke!!!!!

BTW, if you decide to get your RN degree, you will probably have to take a semester of Microbiology.  Very cool class-I took it, but found out later that I didn't need it.

I was going to suggest Canada or the USA since there is a lot of cultural, ethnic and racial diversity there.  Places like Sweden or Greece tend not to have a lot of diversity.  Every culture deals with "being a patient" in a different way.  I think it sounds interesting but then, I'm a nerd  = )

the frist system we should have learned cellular white, red and all the others and components of...so of corse with any of the sysytems and most Dxs blood cells and terminologu are involoved so it just makes alot of extra research for us...Im glad atleast had medical terminology so I know the word elelments I think thats a pre req, as it should be but really a lot of us are pissed being taught pt one before pt two seems that it wouldnt matter because its just different systems but really it does matter,,we got this lame teacher in pt care 1 she sits and reads from the book for 2 hrs Im like crumbs i could teach myself this..our anatomy teacher is toitally cool young and funny she wont give anyone an answer makes us look it up..all and all schools good but I do agree this reports bs not relevant other than getting that other people have different health care systems which i got a big advantage because of being on here I know how it is in some other places,,personally I would not want Gov, HealtCare  not all its cracked up to be,,I like getting help now,,not waiting

wolfe we cant do USA unless we do an american Native indian I did think about Alaska natives cause I really love Alaska , gonna go there some day but when i looked into it man, it looked hard theres alot of different tribes and difficult to pronounce,,oh yeah this teachers making us do an oral presentation , Glad I am not shy,

My personal choice would be Ireland, you hear so much about the others but not very much about Ireland.

I voted Ireland but Greece was my close 2nd.  It really is amazing how different Ireland is and with their strong history.  Something that you may not know is that Newfoundland and Labrador on the east coast of Canada was settled by the Irish (OK a long time after the vikings were there).  Because it is an island and new immigrants did not choose to go there, the gene pool is more pure Irish than in Ireland.  Researchers are actually using the people for gene testing.

I am a Native Indian and wrote my dissertation about "us".  There are lots of different tribes but .... well, this isn't the place to get into that.  Do what you think you'll enjoy.  I used to encourage students to write about what interested them, not what they thought I wanted to hear.  It made their work much more rich, interesting and for them somewhat easier.  TrudieC's answer was interesting.  I didn't know Nfld and Lab were more Irish than they are in Ireland.

Obviously I voted for Australia, seeing as i'm from there(here). It is very diverse both geographically and socially. the population catres are very far apart so the cities all tend to have thier own feel to them. the northern parts are more like the countries to our immediate north than our southern cities. blah blah blah.

no Wolfe, gonna wait till the weeks up,,and see what nation wins. lol found out we have to include or describe how a person would feel in our hospital in usa how we could make them feel comfortable and must respect their rights even if different from our own ie, they dont believe in transfusions, dont want a woman to care for them because of culture etc...I am getting more interested now,,,see you all are helping make this project fun and not boring.
