cant beleive what i just saw on the news

earlier we were talking about all the bad things you see in this age of 24 hour news..well i was flipping through the channels, and saw a CNN report where yesterday this 11 year old boy shot this pregant woman to death. I am not surewhere it happened but now he is in the county jail facing murder charges. What is happening to our society?? There is also the story of the boy who killed his father not sure how old he was but i do know he was younger then 15..It just totally blows my mind that these things are going on? I guess if you beleive in what the Bible teaches, the book of Revalition is coming true!!!

I was in the AM and saw it on the american Today show. The kid was very jealous of that woman. The boys father bought him the gun for Christmas. How stupid is this man? buying a 11 year old a gun? If you look at his picture he looks like someone dememented theres something about his eyes.
Now I always look into peoples eyes when i talk to them,EYES are the mirror to the SOUL

Did they come out and say this boy had some mental issues...i have not heard that..i know there has to be something deep inside not right, or he is just plain evil

This is yet ANOTHER very good reason why we need access to affordable healthcare. Can you imagine having a child with mental issues and not being able to afford counseling for your child ?

I agree anyone that age shoulkd not be able to handlke a gun without the supervision of an adult.. as i wrote earlier i grew up around guns and hunting i think i was 12 when i got my first gun.. it was a shotgun.. but unless my dad was there i didnt touch it much less have it in my closet it was under lock and key

The hard part is what do they do with an 11 year old boy if convicted? Do they put him an adult prison, or a juvenile dentention center untill he is old enough to go to an adult prison? It is truely sad and the boy and the whole family will never be right again

That's a complex one. The crime is horrendous but there's the seperate issue of how to convict and try a minor. I also don't think a kid of that age should have had access to a gun. I am reasonable on that subject. I know people who are hunters that own guns and a local pharmacy where people protect themselves in that manner and have a sign about it and I well respect their rights to own guns. But responsible parents keep guns in a safe place away from children with trigger locks. To a child that young a gun is a toy. Also anyone who is mentally unstable should never be allowed to own a gun to begin with.
As for the idea of individual atrocities being something recent, if you look up "Wisconsin Death Trip" on Wikipedia, you'll find a whole community that fell apart over 100 years ago into mass murder and the like. People have both a tendency to be human and inhumane. Its what we bring out in them. Certainly religion can be a good guiding force towards the right direction. I agree. When people don't raise their children with proper supervision and let them be influenced by destructive influences from the outside then things do wrong. Parenting is a fulltime job. That's certainly part of why these things happen. The American family as a cohesive unit has fallen apart over the years and the results aren't usually this tragic but they have hurt our society in general.

sorry got to get back to work so I didn't have time to read all of the posts. I did however read some of them and teko not all of us wanted God out of the schools, homes, and government. It is a shame that christians have allowed a few atheist to run there lives.

My husband was an atheist when I first met him 10 years ago. Two weekend agos he gave himself to God and was baptised. We go to church every sunday. For many years I was looked down on for marrying him because of his belief but I think God knew I could change my DHs mind and bring him to God.

Also one last note I ordered the book mentioned above. I like the critics on it so I am interested in reading what it says.

My question is that if he could kill someone premeditated - is he rehabilitable?  Do you think he'd kill again as he grew older?  I know when someone does that type of thing as an adult it's a lot different.  What do you all think?  Should he get life in prison or should he be counselled and then see how that goes and then release him?  I just wonder about that - is a child at 11 really capable of understanding the tremendous responsibility of their actions?

helpinutah- I heard that about the jail thing too.  I also heard that he's facing life in prison.. Life in prison is a LOOOONNNG time for an 11 year old, Imagine how crazy that's going to make him.

and I also heard the thing about keeping him away from general population, he will have to shower alone and stuff.  I can't believe a child that young could even think of something like that.

From what I read, family members of the slain woman said he had threatened her before and he placed a blanket over the end of the rifle before he shot her.  It was definitely premeditated.  They are trying him as an adult because in PA where he lives there is no way to charge a minor with premeditated murder in the juvenile court system.  They will have to keep him away from the general population.  So scary to think of a child doing something like this, but yes, the bible states these things will happen in the last days!  But, it's so sad!

Teko:  Very well said, as usual!

So sad,
Janet

I was actually watching this story yesterday, it said he shot her execution style, she was days away from delivering the baby and he did it because he was jealous.  His dad was married to the women and she was pregnant with his dad's child.  His dad apparantly paid more attention to the new wife than his son.. so sad.

Only God knows when Armageddon or Judgement Day will come.  I know that's in the Bible but can't remember where.  Would leaving God in the schools have prevented what happened?  I don't know.

In the ghetto where I live, two young men were shot and killed and they were both from parochial schools where religion is taught.  Drugs were involved so the shooting got less media coverage than a convenience store robbery.

The event Jollyman described made me wonder - are murderers, drug dealers, criminals, etc. children of God?  This is a question not an attempt to put down anyone's religious beliefs.

This is one of the very reasons I don't watch the news.  That doesn't make me ignorant either btw, lol, I just spend my time watching other things than that...anyway, I know alot of people think things are happening at a more alarming rate than ever before, but I would counter by just saying, that there are more people in the world today..in fact, every day.  I think that, for example and sake of the argument, let's say there are two crimes for every twenty people.  Now the populace has increased to sixty people.  The old-timers that were alive back when there were only twenty will see an increase in crime, but only superficially.  The rate of crime itself is not necessarily increasing, rather, the populace is.  Obviously, technology helps this, and I would even be willing to concede to you SLIGHTLY, lol, because of the increase in the populace, there are more people living together in cities and spaces, etc.  So sometimes, where a crime might have taken 10 lives previously, it may now take 40 because of more people there, ie a bomb on a bus or public square.  Either way, I think we're all horrified at all of the violence...it's a trick to manage your life in such a way as to be aware of it, yet also to not let it hinder your enjoyment of life...what a balance.

that is true jacqui they have been happening since Cain and Able...but it is happening in to days world more and more at an alarminmg rate.. you are also right the news media wont or dont report the good that man does for one another..this 24 hour news cycle of a world we live in they justr want to report the bad news for shck value i guess..we would be alot better off if they would report the good things that happen

Jolly, respectfully, while the news stories you recounted are absolutely heinous, I would counter that these type of stories have been happening since the dawn of man.  A few searches through history prove it.  People will always do awful things to one another, but another always, is that they will always also do wonderful things for each other.  So much more good happens every single day, than do bad things regarding people.  Trouble is, the media doesn't report that stuff.  If you could see it, you'd be astounded at the good one man does for another.  It happens every single day.

your right about locking guns up...i was raised in western maryland which is up in the mounatins of matyland my dad hunted and taught me and my brothers to hunt...but his guns and when we got old enough our guns were under lock and key and till we got old enough we didnt touch them with out his supervision.

in todays world God only knows why an 11 yr old would do such a thing..maybe she told him to do something he didnt want too..but like one of ask about abuse so many times when something like this happens that is what has happened the child has benn abused

Thank you for answering my question, I hadnt seen that news its pretty grusome a child of that age would do that, if they keep guns in the house maybe they should use those Gun lock boxes, they must have left the gun laying around .

There has been no mention of child abuse or as to the reason why the child shot the woman as yet.

All I have seen or heard so far is,  Jordan Brown (aged 11) was charged as an adult in the shooting death of Kenzie Marie Houk, who was eight months pregnant.

James is the son of Houk's live-in boyfriend, was charged with criminal homicide and criminal homicide of an unborn child.

The womans 4 year old daughter found her first and the other daughter who is 7 phoned the police.

Who knows why a child of 11 would do such a thing....these days anything and any so called reason is possible.....

Don't be too impressed Stubby, lol, I have to look stuff up. I can't just recite stuff off the top of my head.
That's sad. Jesus is #2? You are so right. He should be #1. You know what else makes me sad? That Santa has taken over Christmas and most kids don't even realize it's the celebration of the birth of Christ. Not that I'm veering off topic here, lol. Sorry about that!

I wonder if Amazon would have the book? It's probably not in circulation anymore. I don't know. I'll have to do some checking and see if I can find it. It is good, though!

Your comments were so right on.  I heard/read something yesterday that  I believe also contributes to how our children and adults react. There was a poll taken on who people thought of as their hero.  Jesus Christ was listed as #2.  If Christ was #1 in our lives the world would be alot different place to live.  April, I am really impressed with your knowledge of the Bible.  Thank you for sharing the name of that book.  Will try to locate it.  Church library may have it.

PK, the last days is the time right before Jesus returns for his people. This will be the time of the anti-christ and one world government. Things are supposed to get worse and worse, not just with mankind but also nature. It's already heading that way. Just look around you. Europe started it with a one currency. Just wait and watch, you'll see it happen.

WWI and WWII took place after the death of Jesus. What other major, defining event happened after that? I know there have been other happenings that have swayed much of how the world functions nowadays……but I get brain dead after 11:00 pm lol.

Again, one thing I sometimes think of is, when the Bible refers to the last days as being the most terrible of human kind, is God referring to the days that came after Jesus died?

I also ignore if there is a way to know if rape, suicide, killing, murder, etc are happening more nowadays, or is it that back in the day there was no television or communication means and nobody could keep record of such occurrences. I only have the Bible to support my belief that these days are worse than ever. Do we possess another source?
