Lost my job 2 weeks ago...So I am now looking for a job and doing Partylite on the side....
Well as of Tuesday my DH is now looking for a job. It scares me to think my measly 30 hr per week job is supposed to support us until he gets one again.
my husband has been out of work since Sept of 2008, I am on disability, so I understand when you say how hard it is to make it. He worked at the same company for 20 years before it went under. The problem is most employers doesnt want older employees. he is only 51 but still there are so many younger people looking for work, that they would rather hire some one younger. just my thoughts. Also you cant just walk into the employment office and they send you on a job interview, now everything is done on the computer, they tell you to look for a job and post your resume online.
my DH was out 6 months now hes got a temp since june and it will end in 3wks hopefully he will going bk to work with his family after this theres supposed to be a job if not we are bk to square 1 looking again!!
My husband has been out of work for 19 months, and I have been on disability for 7 years. It has been extremely hard for us and especially hard for my husband...he is old school, where a man's lot is to have a good job and take care of his family...it is really hard watching what this is doing to him. He was a printer/pressman for 40 yrs, before his employer closed down the business, and more and more, computers are taking over what he used to do. Just trying to hang on until this economy turns around...
I have been looking for years it seems. Took about 10 years off to help with my beloved mother, then when she went to heaven, I looked in earnest. I can't find a darn thing. So, this fall, I am starting school to train to be a Medical Assistant, I feel I will do well in this, and it looks like the medical field will be one area where employment should not be too scarce.
My brother has been out of a job for a year now. I don't know how he makes it. Fortunately, he has his retired military pay. Still, that's not enough to live on. It makes me grateful my husband has a job with pretty good benefits, especially in this economy.
