Personally I hate the star/badge system. Makes some look like they know more than others, and some people tend to get very competitive about them. That's all,.... I step down from my Soap Boz.

you can also go to your settings and choose not to have them seen ...

Just post like you always do. Ignore them. I look at it this way, I can answer a post to get stars or I can give my own opinion based on what I feel, which may not always be taken as a good thing? But its an honest one.

P.S. ... you have to" join" the community to see your stars.

The stars aka "badges" is sort of like a reward system that started a couple of months ago... it identifies the "top answerers" (those who post frequently) in a particular community. If you post a lot in a specified forum... you rack up stars. If you stop posting for a period of time... your star numbers fall.
