Have just been diagnosed with msk

HI there my name is Angela im from Edinburgh Scotland. Ive just found out i have msk after suffering for 10 weeks with 6 stones!!!  Im glad there is a website where u can talk to other people who have the same thing as you.  I havent seen the specialist yet as im awaiting a cystoscopy, so i dont really know much about the disease. I have suffered from permanant cystitis for 8 years now  im 29 years old and my bladder problems started with the birth of my oldest daughter. I only have 1 kidney affected and would be grateful to hear about your thoughts and experiences about this disease. Thanks and look foward to chatting to you all

Hi and WELCOME to the MSK Community.  There are many veterans here and newbies like yourself too!  I am glad you got a diagnosis so now you can have an answer to your problems.  I make very small stones on a continual basis it seems ... I am lucky; my largest was only 4.0 mm.  Others grow huge ones.

Sometimes certain food trigger for some.  If you make calcium oxalate stones then stay away from foods high in oxalate and taking extra calcium, etc.

There is some great info in our health pages at the top of the forum!

WELCOME!

Cheryl

Welcome. The good thing about coming here before seeing the specialist is you will have enough information to ask good questions at your first appointment.
I never heard of permanent cystitis, is it just constant infection or what we in the US call IC. MSKShelly has a lot of information about the constant infection, called biofilm infection. More that the specialist probably has, LOL. She also has runs a website for IC patients.
I have been passing stones since 1993.

Welcome!!  I am glad you signed on.  You are definitely not alone!  You mention permanent cystitis is that like a chronic infection or do you have Interstital Cystitis also known as painful bladder syndrome?  I have MSK and IC several others do as well. YOu will see by signature, my website to network IC patient in my area.  If you live with Chronic bladder pain there maybe some things on there that can help you as well.  I also have a menu item to post some of my research on MSK as well as link back to here.

Here is a great newbie article to get your started.
The the health pages on this site are great and list a lot of great MSK resources too!  I hope this will help you. Again, welcome and we are glad your here!
