MSK and High Blood Pressure

I was diagnosed with MSK about 2 yrs ago. Overall haven`t had too much trouble. Occassional pain in my left side/flank area. One very small stone passed so far, thankfully. However, for the past few mths I`m dealing with high blood pressure. At first it would fluctuate some and then level out. Now it`s tending to stay high as I check it more. I`m checking twice daily to send records to my PCP, Nephrologist, and Rheumatologist. Usually around 140/100. Anyone else having this problem? Is this something I should be more concerned about?

I too have been having some issues with blood pressure being high.  Today at the DR, it was 153/108, which is actually a bit higher than it's been running lately.  I don't know if it's at all related to the MSK, but I know high bp can & will cause more stress on our kidneys, which they don't need!  If your bp is staying high, you probably want to make the doctors aware of it and let them know of your concerns!

I was just given the diagnosis of MSK a few months ago during one of my MANY trips to the ER for stones.  I passed my first kidney stone just after my 16th birthday... since then (almost 16 years later) I have probably passed a hundred!  Most have been tiny and caused little to no pain, but at least 2,3,or 4 times a year I find myself passing a decent size stone which requires a visit to the urologist.  I have had many surgically removed... 4 in the last 5 years!  Recently I have been dealing with chronic pain in my kidney, especially the left one.  Of course, I hear the same ole story... stones don't hurt til u start to pass them... I call BS!

Such a shame because we all know that stones can hurt sitting in our kidneys!!!!!!!  Even stones that don't show up on tests!!!!!

Keep posting .. together we can help each other through this.
