well i went to my family doc and have humungous amounts of visible blood in my urine. i have been bleeding like this for 10 weeks now. i see the urologist on mon and hes gonna go up with a scope and try to find the bleeding. i might even end up in surgery on mon to get a perk surgery. i'm not prepared yet. i need to get mentally prepared for this surgery. any advice would be great.

how many of u can see bright red blood? i've been bleeding like this for 10 weeks. i thought it was comming from the uterus for a long time but was sadly mistaken. what could be the causes and could it just be because of all the stones in the kidneys and could there be permanant damage? i'm getting nervous about the perk surgery as well.

Hello sweetie.  I don't know much about the perk surgery or what is causing your bleeding but I can tell you what happened in my case.  I had huge amounts of blood in my urine when I had my first CT scan.  The blood was caused by a stone that was lodged in the top of my ureter leaving the kidney.  It did't hurt to pass the blood so that was a sign I didn't have infection.  Another time I was passing actual blood clots with urinating but it was painful.  In that instance I had a bad urinary tract infection.  But if you're not passing a stone or have a UTI then I'm not sure what else it could be.  I believe that frequently passing stones can cause permanant damage.  Don't know if I helped you any but I do hope you start feeling better.

take care,

Jeanne

I went through having lots of blood in my urine for several months as well and it is soo very scary.  For me it turns out that blood is one of the only visible signs I have of infection!  It is still scary.  My URO seemed unconcerned and basically told me blood can just go along with MSK.  I guess even the calcifications can cause bleeding within the kidney.

Please keep us posted and I hope everything turns out alright! I would assure you that more then likely it is OK with our funky kidneys but I am glad you doctor is checking everything out too!  If they find nothing request trying antibiotics and see if it clears up.

ok, i will. thanks for the advice. i really needed to have others to talk to. no one else can really understand how scary all this is. i started itching really badly yesterday which scared me about renal failure but i'm sure i'm just being paranoid.
