surgical repair

Ok, I'm new to this forum, but I've had these nasty kidneys for 57 years and have had 23 lithotripsies, plus pass over 5 stones a year [up to 5 mm].
So, I'm getting tired of this. We just traveled from Orlando to San Antonio for a family reunion, and, you guessed it, I spent the reunion time in the hospital with an infection and 3 - 10mm stones.
I'm tired of losing jobs because I "get sick" too much. I'm tired of constant pain that makes me seem like a hypochrondiac. I'm tired of being tired because I can't sleep well. I'm sick of not being able to do continued exercise - and forget bending at the waist. I'm upset about not being able to wear clothes that fit a the waist because of the pressure on my flanks. I need some cheese to go with my whine!
Does anyone know of some type of proceedure that would put tubes in my kidneys so that these blasted stones won't get stuck where they form?
Is there some type of pain medication that will take away the pain, but not put me out for the count?

YES YES .. MSKShelly will have to post for you .. she is having a new procedure done I believe soon ... I am sure she will want to reply to you post.

I can only imagine the constant pain you are in and my thoughts are with you .. please continue to post and we are all here for you!!  I am fortunate that I am stone free at the moment but can relate to some of what you describe.

It is very hard when people think you look healthy and you are in constant, severe pain .. nobody can even begin to fathom the pain from one kidney stone, let alone a truckload.

WELCOME TO THE MSK COMMUNITY!!!!!

Hi and welcome! I can relate to your pain and infections though it appears yours are more progressed then mine, I am 43.  However I have spent many years too with the pain your describe even when they do not see stones in the ureter!

I am excited to say that after years of no answers there is a procedure to destroy all the calcifications within the kidney! Basically using a Holmium laser this physician is going to go and clear out all the stones in the medulla etc.   I am scheduled to have the surgery done on Aug. 4th Since at this point I have never met this doctor I only found it through researching that I can not post the contact info etc.  However once I am through the surgery I will post all the info.

In the meantime.... I have used lots of things but nothing totally takes the pain away!
I have found that using my Rife machine helps as does using a rock heated in hot water, rubbed in oil over the kidney.   Another thing that has helped many of us is using a daily antibiotic long term.  This makes a big difference!  I am on two full strength antibiotics now, and IV's are the only thing that work now for the infection!  A natural product that has helped many of us too is called Silverbiotics by American biotech labs.  This product gave me a year off antibiotics and keeps me from going under now!  Other's have also found that this product helps their pain issues too.  Those more from infection then from passsing stones!

Please know that you are not alone!!  Keep in touch and stay tuned.  I will let you all know how it goes soon!
