11 days and counting/ Blackish blood clots

I was 4 months late finally got my period on the 2nd and now it's the 12th which makes 11 days and my period is still in, it's never been in for more then 7 days. Last night it stopped and this morning iy was on with a blood clot.

Doctor said I'm not pregnant, blood test said that I was 1 below or I think he said my hgc level was 1 if I'm mistaken.

You can take vitamin C with the iron to help it absorb better. Some foods inhibit iron absorption which is why they say it should be taken on an empty stomach if you can tolerate it that way.

It takes a long time to get your iron level back to normal. Especially if you are low in hemoglobin. It can take a year really. You need to see if you can get ferrous gluconate (which absorbs better) and take 2 pills a day until your values are normal. Then you can try a pill two day on one day off and see if it stays normal. I would stay on the iron and monitor the iron and complete blood count every 3 months if you can for a year or at least for a while. I saw a hematologist when I was anemic and these are the instructions he gave me.  When I went off iron because I was normal then I because anemic again. So you will want to watch it. For me I have stayed on Iron for years but just cut down.

So you're saying you have low hemoglobin / iron deficiency? If so, did your doctor tell you to take supplemental iron?
