Age53, FSH level 13.1, estradiol 84

My doctor sent me lab results with no explanation.  I am 53 years old have been on BCP for years, went off them to get blood work done to see if I am in menopause.  My FSH was 13.1 and estradiaol was 84.  Have I reached menopause?  THe thought of a change of life baby scares me to death, we have a 30+ and a 21 year old!
Until I can get to a new doc can anyone help ?
Thanks

Those numbers don't sound menopausal to me - but different labs may have different values. It also matters where you are in your cycle.

Good luck,

I hear you on that.  I'm also 53 and going through a bit of hell with constant spotting.  I'm due to see a gynecologist on the 20th of this month for likely, a uterine biopsy.  Needless to say, I'm quite scared.

As for being in menopause well, I don't know what those numbers mean to be frank.  But, the fact that you are on a form of hormones means that it's difficult to tell by symptoms.  Usually, menopause is considered to be upon us when we have gone at least 12 months in a row without bleeding.  So, it's hard to tell since you are on BCP.

Perhaps, a call to your doc for an explanation as to what these numbers may mean may give you the answers but, I think that you may also need to ask about the BCP and whether you need to still be on them and why you are still on them if it does indicate that you are in menopausal ranges.

Wishing you the very best!

*now, if I could only get someone to answer my questions LOL*
