Hi. Sorry no one got back to you sooner. Here's what I was told. The only real way to tell if you're beginning/going through the change is if you have no periods for 12 mos. straight. Now, normally, leading up to that (a few years actually), womenWomen's way will have irregularly spaced cyles. Some times 2 in one month other times skipping a month etc.....some very heavy, some very light. You get the idea. Also, during this time, if you've gone for a lengthy amt with no menstruation, but know you are not pregnant, your doctor can order an LHLh blood test Lh urine test (home test) (leutinizing hormone), FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) & Estradol (not exactly sure about that....) test which then will give some idea of your menopausal status.
I hope this helped. Good luck to you.
P.S. I've been told that women who have tubes tied actually go through the change earlier too. Whether that's true or not, I'm not sure......
