FSH levels start to rise in an effort to make the egg and its follicle “listen”.
A day 3 value of 8.5 is below what is considered perimenopause. No one can say if it will be difficult to get pregnant or not because it depends both on you and the sperm count of your partner. There could be other problems as well such as a blocked fallopian tube.
The best thing for you to do is to make an appointment with a fertility specialist and get started trying to have a baby. You may be asked to take fertility medications or to use your partner’s sperm and have the Doctor place it into your uterus at the time of ovulation. This is called intrauterine insemination or IUI. There are also tests that might be done to be sure there aren’t other problems preventing you from conceiving.
Many things can cause irregular periods. Since your FSH is normal now, act on that now for the best chance of conception.
