Early meno

I am 40 years old, I had my ovaries removed 4yrs ago.  Sex has become a very 'dry' situation.  I do not have the sex drive I did before and even with lubricants, it is still painful.  Is this normal for a woman my age and happily married?  Another thing ,  the opening of the vagina has narrowed, is this normal?  What can I do to fix this, it is driving me crazy.

I had both ovaries removed 6 weeks ago and had the typical menopausal symptoms. I am now using a vaginal ring (Femring) for estrogen replacement. Is there a reason why your doctor didn't put you on a replacement therapy? Have you had any other symptoms like night sweats or hot flashes? My menopause was surgically induced and I had all the symptoms pretty much immediately. As soon as I started using the ring my symptoms went away and I feel back to my normal self.

Good luck to you. Talk with your doctor - there are options.

When your ovaries were removed did they put you on any hormones?  At the very least, I would have your estradiol levels checked and I would talk to your ob/gyn about a vaginal estrogen cream.   Lack of estrogen makes your vaginal tissue thinner and more dry which makes sex painful. Good luck.
