Estrogen therapy for extreme weight gain

When I was about 25, I was given estrogen because a doctor said that the one ovary that they left in me after a partial hysterectomy quit working.  Well, it didn't, and I went from 102 lbs. to 185 in less than a year.  Of course, I had to go to about 20 doctors before someone realized this, but as soon as he took me off the estrogen, I started dropping the weight.  This happened again once more in my 30's, and it happened again about a year ago, when I was going through menopause.  I have never been heavy in my entire life, always extremely petite, and no one in my family was heavy.  So, I went to a specialist, and they looked at my pituitary glands, my cortisol levels, and my thyroid.  Then, she did the estrogen test.  It was WAY below what it should have been.  So she put me on an estrogen patch, very mild dosage, and she said that my body can't regulate itself with any changes of my estrogen levels, and that's why I gained this weight again.

Have any of you heard of this before?  I don't mean 20 or 30 lbs.  I'm talking 80 to 100 lbs!!  I guess since too much estrogen did this, too little could do it too.

Someone, please help?
