Extreme Weight Gain/hot flashes

Hi, I am 52 and have been in full menopause for over a year now. I was around 150 pounds a year ago, which went out of control the same time as the menopause.  I have gained an extreme amount of weight, which I can't seem to lose. My clothes fit tight, and I am so frustrated and uncomfortable. Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder when I became 9 months pregnant again. These are not exaggerations. What can I do about this? Hopefully someone has the answers.
As for hot flashes, I found Black Cohosh works really well.

Menopause makes you feel like your body is not your own anymore. You are in one of the fights of your life to keep control. you have to find what balances your body. get a good endocrinologist and stay on top of this. you have to keep a food diary, you don't want to wake up and realize you've gained ........lbs. I weigh every day. I am trying my best not to gain weight. I also am 30 lbs overweight. I am determined to loose it by July. I wish you well.

First, start keeping a food diary.  Then you can see how much of what and when you are eating.  Next, I'd stop eating almost ALL carbohydrates.  Stick to meat and vegetables and watch how many carbs are in the salad dressings and such.  Next, if you haven't already, get your thyroid levels checked.  You may have an issue with hypothyroidism.
