HRT following surgical menopause

Hi, I am scheduled to have a total hysterectomy due to large complex bilateral ovarian neoplasms. I am 45 & premenopausal. I don't know what I was thinking... I guess I've been focussed on getting the tumours out incase they are cancerous... But it's only jst dawned on me that very soon following my hyst.. I am going to face surgical menopause. I am so worried... I m worried about everything I've read... I'm confused about HRT... Will I be prescribed this immediately following surgery? How long after surgery will it be before the symptoms commence... Is it immediate? Many thanks for any advice,

I too had a surgical menopause but  much earlier,  in my 20s.  I woke up with a patch on that worked great while in the hospital but as soon as I got home that's when the troubles began. They kept falling off and when they would stay on I got a rash. Tried several oral Rxs that didn't work well and caused side effects. After many years of trial and error I now use 3 things for the hot flashes -- progesterone cream, herbal supplement, and Yogi Women's Tea.  I also did acupuncture for a while.
They are not gone but much, much better.  I can sleep, no mood swings, no weight gain, etc,  I just did a blog on hot flashes www.sunflowerhw.com

Since you're older you may not experience the symptoms so intense but if you do you have alternatives.
