Hair loss

Would natural progesterone cream help hair loss?  I'm 54, had a partial hysterectomy 13 years ago and I haven't taken any HRT, etc.  However, during this past year the menopausal symptoms have gotten worse (difficulty sleeping, hot flashes, mild depression, vaginal dryness, etc.).  The most depressing side effect I've had during the past 7 months is hair loss.  I had an FSH test done and my gyn relayed the message through the nurse that I was "in menopause."  I'm taking multivitamins and calcium with vitamin D and fish oil and cranberry capsules for urinary discomfort.  I started drinking one glass of soy milk a day and bought some Progest Cream but before I really commit to staying on it, I'm wondering if it will make my hair loss worse.  Also, should I continue with the soy milk because I'm reading it's not good for the thyroid.

Have you tried Nioxin Shampoo, they have an entire line of products that may help.  I'm assuming that your hairloss in Androgetic, or female patterned baldness??? lots of thinning especialy through the top, part getting bigger?? If that is the case than this stuff may actually help, it counteracts the DHT that causes this condition, also Rogaine would help, I would ask your Dr. though before you use it, or a Derm.  If this doesn't sound like your hairloss, perhaps you have what I have Which is Alopecia Areata, this kind of loss is most noticed in smooth round or well defined areas, in that case you should see a Derm. and get a diagnosis.  I've had AA for about 7 yrs now, following a Total Hysterectomy, it is an Autoimune disease, which has no cure, but can disappear on its own, or progress.
