High FSH

I had a total hysterectomy on 02/08/07.  My Fsh is 112.00 & I don't have my ovaries.  What does this mean with my FSH being so high?

Your FSH is normal for a person in menopause. Usually, levels are well below 40. FSH is the hormone that makes the ovary produce an egg and estrogen. The estrogen rises and makes the FSH stay in the normal range. When the ovaries are removed, there is no estrogen production from the ovary and the FSH continues to go up to make the ovary respond. Since it can't, the values stay high. Having an FSH of 112 is not a problem. It is a normal value for menopause.
