Hot Flushes and night sweats

I started on the Menopause at the age of 51, I was put on HRT and felt fine, but after 9yrs on HRT I was taken off it by my doctor. Then I started with hot flushes and night sweats which I have been having for 2-3 years now I can't go back on HRT because I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer 2 years ago. I am well now, but the sweats and flushes don't seem to be getting any better, I can't sleep properly with them. How long do they last, surely they can't go on for ever.

Tell me about it! I have been on a premature meno since 39 and am now unable to take HRT because of complications and other illnesses. But my periods have stopped but it is still hell on earth, in fact I've just posted a similiar question about how long things last. I get the flashes, night sweats, palpitations, awful anxiety etc. I'm hoping that when I've gone a whole yr without periods I will get relief. Have your periods stopped since you came off hrt or are you still having them?
