LGSIL...10 yrs after vag cancer

by PaulaAnn, Jul 01, 2008 11:33AM
I am 59 yrs old...dx'd with rheum arthritis in 1983.  I was also dx'd in 1989 with vaginal cancer after 1 1/2 yr of abnormal paps.  Everything has been fine so far with paps every 6 months.  Today, the nurse has called and said my pap came back with LGSIL.   I am very concerned since I am, obviously, worried about cancer.  I also know that I did have the one of the bad strains of HPV when I was dx'd with vag ca.

I was to go in the end of July for a colposcopy.  But asked for a sooner time...I am going in this tuesday.  At that time he will perform a colposcopy.  and then he may do a biopsy.  I had talked to my gyn onc about a spotty bleeding that i get maybe once a month or two month...and he told me it was due to my hrt most likely.

1) would there be bleeding with hpv?  It is not bleeding but just a spot or two every few months

2)  I do have lichen sclerosus and i also use estrace cream that sometimes will bleed after using the applicator?  Does this make sense?

3)  if this was more serious than LGSIL would that be noted?  Could they person doing the pap review know whether it is cancer or not?

4)  what is the % that this is hpv and not cancer?  or something else?

5)  could this be anything else?  i have read that infections can cause problems with paps

6)  And anything else you can tell me would be great.   I am trying to get my $19 worth...lol

I'm just nervous about this and have lots of my plate...fiance just dx'd with leukemia last week so it is overwhelming for me today.  Didn't need any upsetting news.

7)  what would the procedure be if they found it was more than LGSIL?  Or does this seem to be early and not so bad?

Thank you and sorry for all the questions..hope they make sense.

Paula
