Lichen Sclerosis

by 777me, Jul 02, 2009 10:05AM
By Bx I was told I have the early stages of this.  I do not have any of the common symptoms (itching pain).  My symptom is scarring of my cliterous and also my labia minor adhered to my majora.  Like everyone else I have read the treatment and my physician has put me on Clobetersol for 2 weeks BID and then as needed.  Prior to treatment I was able to gently separated the minor from the majora, The clit still remains scarred.  My question is this I am 52 and do not want to see this advance and the answers I am receiving does not sound as if this medication is going to stop the progression of this desease.  Have you seen an increase in this uncommon disease since the decrease of hormone replacement therapy due to the Women's Initative Study.  Do you think hormone replacement therapy would help stop the progression of this disease?  Are there any studies out there. In the forum there was the use of progesterone. Would oral hormone therapy be just as effective?  Or would the cream be safer from the Women Initative Study?   I still have my uterus.
