Medicine for Menopause

I have become desperate. After 39 years, 2 months, and 4 days of having a period, and about 30 of those with problems. I would like to know if someone know about some type of medicine or supplements that can stop a period and force menopause. This seems to be my only option, since I have never been able to get help for gynocological problems. Maybe if I can get rid of the period, I can get rid of the misery. I'm pretty sure that my lack of health insurance has a lot to do with it, especially because of my age. Someone told me that they heard that it may be something out there to help me. Has anyone heard of anything? Thanks for your response!

You should be starting menopause pretty soon, if you are 51.  However, if you can't wait, and can afford a procedure, there is endometrial ablation.  It will stop the periods.  Good luck!

They can also give you depo-provera shots that will put you into menopause but it has a lot of side effects.  I had a large fibroid tumor that my doc wanted to shrink in order to remove it with laparoscopy versus a major surgery.  This was about 20 years ago.  They gave me depo-provera shots for three months that shrunk the tumor but also put me in menopause temporarily.  It was the most "down" psychologically I've ever felt in my life including the rough time in my life right after my 65 year old mother suddenly passed away.  NOTHING made me laugh!  I felt sooooo depressed.  So, I'm not sure I would highly recommend it.  I've also had an endometrial ablation (and know many women who have too) that helped tremendously with PMMD symptoms.
