Menopause and Ovarian cyst

by bmw46, Sep 26, 2007 08:02PM
Through a vist to the E.R. with severe nausea and left abdomal pain. The Ct scan came up with left ovarian cyst 10mm and Scattered Pelvic Phleboliths. My G.P. says one other cyst must have ruptured. How can he tell? I have not had a period for almost eight years (Menopause). Should I be concern about this cyst?

Women do make cysts in their ovaries from time to time after menopause. 10 mm is small, less than 1/2 inch. It takes 25 mm to make an inch. It is not possible for me to know if there were a cyst that ruptured or not with the information here, but if it was there and is gone, that is good. While the 10 mm cyst is probably not going to be a bad problem, the doctor might want to do a repeat scan either with CT or with an ultrasound in several months to see if it is enlarging.
