A. Late periods are very common.  Although the commonest reason is pregnancy, there are many other reasons.  Most of the time it is due to a hormonal imbalance that can cause bloating.  Cramps may mean that you are about to have a period.

If your period does not come in another week, it is a good idea to make an appointment with your health care provider.  Ask to have blood testing for hormones that can affect your period such as FSH, LH, Prolactin, estrogen and progesterone.  These test results can help the doctor understand why you are late.  Stress is another reason that periods can be late.

Hopefully, your period will come soon.  But if not, your doctor might want to give you the hormone progesterone to bring on a period.  Much will depend on the reason you are late.  The doctor might repeat the pregnancy test as well just to be sure you are not pregnant, especially if they plan to give you progesterone.

I understand what you are going through. I haven't had a period since December of 2005. Took pregnancy test, and said invalid results.

I just started coaching baseball at the beginning of may and ive been doing more physical activity and i was wondering will that effect me being late?

i had my son about 19 months ago... after having him in december, i didnt have my first period until june. after that, i had one in january, then another in feb., and in march. since then, i havent had one and its coming close to the end of july.ive taken numerous pregnancy tests, and all were negative. i dont know whats wrong with me, but i have been lashing out at people for almost no reason, which is kinda making me think its a hormonal imbalance. when i had my son, i ended up having a c-section, and i dont know if that could be causing any of this, or if it takes longer to get back on track then a natural birth. i dont have insurance, so im kinda pitting off going to the doctor, but if anyone has any input, itd be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. jenn
