No Period for 6 years but....Not Menopausal

I have not had a period for over 6 years. OBGYN blood work states no menopausal or premenopausal hormones in sight. Hormone therapy given, several times, birth control given, NO PERIOD! Doc says leave it be, me, not so sure. Upon hearing of my grandmothers death, I gushed for 1 day, upon my store being robbed, I gushed for one day, upon hearing of my young brothers tragic death, I gushed for one day, and upon my mothers death, I gushed for one day. These gushes were not even that of a period. They were just some blood on the toilet paper.
So my question is..........why havent I have been menstruating and why some blood after a traumatic experience? Might I add I had a tubal ligation 20 years ago and have not engaged in any sexual activity for the same amount of time I have not menstruated due to the fact I have no desire whatsoever. I also have gained about 50 pounds and growing in the last 6 years too.
