Osteoporosis and anemia

Is there a relationship between osteoporosis and bone marrow function? Since osteoporosis is a weakening of the bone structure, and blood cells are produced in the bone marrow, does osteoporosis lead to anemia?

You are asking an interesting question. To my knowledge, the bone thinning per se of osteoporosis is not a cause of anemia. However, poor nutrition or poor absorption due to conditions such as Celiac disease or Sprue can be associated with both osteoporosis and anemia because both calcium and iron are difficult to absorb in such conditions.
