PREMENOPAUSE

I am 40.  I have had some odd symptoms in the past year.  I have went to the doctor's  twice this year.  My hormone levels are showing normal, I do take synthroid for a thyroid problem but the hormones are normal for my thyroid now with meds.  Pap smears had normal results, no stds etc.
I have hot flashes, they actually turn my face, neck and back bright red.  I get anxiety feelings when this happens with heart palpatations, I get tired easy and just recently my period has turned very very dark almost black, and yet I am told nothing is wrong?  I just guess I don't get it.
