I am 49 years old & in October got my period on the 44th day of my cycle. I usually have 26 day cycles. I got my period on Nov 25 & it did not stop since that time. I tried a course of birth control for 14 days & it did not help. I have apptmnt with gyn for testing. Is this menopause?? How can bleeding stop? I am petrified of cancer - help!!!
HI,
Irregular and excessive bleeding is not a sign of menopause. An examination by a gynaecologist and an ultrasound scan will make matters clear. The bleeding can be stopped with medicines in the form of haemostatic agents and hormonal therapy.
Hope this helps.
